November 30, 2009

As you see, these pictures were taken Friday. I've been slacking on updating recently, but I have a valid excuse: EXAM WEEK. Talk about taking over my life, along with work! I had my bio lab practical today and psychology exam, but I still have: bio lecture, sociology, world religions, and philosophy. Ugh, this week and next week will be rough! BUT I have the Cory Chisel show next TUESDAY in North Carolina to look forward to!

This is the outfit that I entered into the Weardrobe contest for "Best Winter Look." My first contest as a fashion blogger, how exciting! As soon as I told Shelby about this, she offered to take the photos, and of course, I said yes because she's very, very talented and she's very, very fun! It was so hard for me to choose pictures to put up because every single one turned out BEAUTIFULLY! Thank you Shelby. And I just received word that Shelby is transferring colleges for Spring semester, so she will be back in good old Virginia Beach! (There are talks of rooming together when I'm at ODU in fall.. hmm..)

Back to the outfit. (I tend to just write out what I'm thinking in my head, so everything is always very scattered.. please just go with me!) I found this vintage jacket at a local Goodwill and nearly rolled over and died. It was $13. AMAZING. It is so beautiful and romantic, especially in person. It's probably my favorite thing in my wardrobe right now. The dress is also wonderful.. I found it in the intimates section at the local CHKD Thrift Store! I can't even tell you the luck I've had lately with vintage and thrifting.

Outfit details:
Bow clip: Charlotte Russe
Fur collar coat: Thrifted
Tan silk slip (worn as dress): thrifted
Black ribbon belt: thrifted (taken off another dress)
Tights: Hue (Marshalls)
Shoes: DSW

P.S.: Looking at these pictures has really made me so thankful to live minutes from the ocean. I feel like Virginia Beach is taken for granted by so many people.. in fact, Shelby and I had this exact conversation as we were taking pictures. It is really a gorgeous place to live.. I've lived here all my life, no where else, and so many memories were made along the shores of the beach.

  1. Okay, wow!!! I absolutely LOVE every single thing you're wearing right here! The dress, the coat, the tights, the shoes. You look perfect! And those photos are just amazing. I didn't know you lived right on a beach. Isn't it just perfection?! Except you're on a sea.. awww. I love it!!

  2. Thank you, Tieka! That means a lot! I'm lucky, the photographer is moving down here so she will be taking many of my pictures! And I have to completely agree.. I LOVE living by the ocean. Couldn't live anywhere that didn't have a coast!

  4. I love your coat and those tights are a wonderful shade. I envy you and the ocean; I'm near Puget Sound but it's all rocky and always cold!

  5. Just came across your blog today and this outfit has inspired one of my own! I have a dress with a similar floral pattern that I've had for... about a year and haven't worn. But upon seeing this, it just came to me. Hope to post it soonish and when I do I'll link back to this blog. Thanks!
