It's a Hazenut Mocha kinda day..

December 30, 2009
Yesterday I just had to run a few errands in the morning because I had to work pretty much all day, and I was really proud of myself for not just throwing on jeans and a sweater or something!  Typically the only days I dress up are when I have school, days off, or days when I open and get out of work early.

This is kind of a goofy picture but it's me and my favorite coffee mug enjoying the Fireside Coffee Hazenut Mocha Instant Gourmet Coffee. Delicious! Thanks Tieka :)

Today's also the last day of 2009! I seriously cannot believe it is already 2010.. boggles my mind.  I've never really liked the term "resolutions."  I guess because when I think of New Years resolutions, all I can think is that they will be broken.  So, instead, here are my GOALS for 2010.

1.  Dress more consciously.  Instead of just throwing something on in the morning before school, be more aware of what I'm wearing.  Perhaps spend more than 5 minutes picking out an outfit!
2. Develop my blog.  I'd like for my blog to feel more professional, meaning better pictures (more on that later) and layout.
3.  Macbook and Nikon. I've been saving and saving for my Macbook.. and I'd like to have it around my birthday (February 2).  I've seriously wanted one since high school and I'm so proud of myself for making it happen!  It will make updating the blog so much easier (just do it between classes or on work break!).  I'd also like to have my Nikon D40 by the beginning of summer.
4.  Do well in school.  It's my last semester at community college and I want to go out with a bang.  I start Old Dominion University in fall and it's going to be a big change, but I'm so excited to have all of my general ed's out of the way and focus on my major.
5. Love more.  Simply put.

Lost in Norfolk

December 28, 2009

My best friend Danielle and I had it all planned out: an afternoon at the Chrysler Museum.  I love going to the museum and dressing up kinda artsy.  Anyways, we didn't bring the GPS, and neither of us know Norfolk very well, and we got lost for about a hour until I finally called my mom and she went to the website to give us the address.  She called back about 2 minutes later and told us they were CLOSED for the next couple of days! We ended up just getting pho for lunch and taking some photos after!

Merry Christmas... 3 days late!

 December 25, 2009

This is my official Christmas post!  Sorry it is so delayed.  I had a 13 hour work day Saturday (both jobs that day.. yuck) and yesterday was spend relaxing with my boo and eating at California Pizza Kitchen! Mmm their greek pizza is to DIE for.  Well, these are a few pictures Patrick and I snapped a few shots after we opened our gifts!

His face just cracks me up in this one!

My new beautiful necklace from my love! Does it look familiar?   It's by the same Etsy seller as the necklace from this post.

What a wonderful Christmas it was! I just loved that Patrick didn't have to work (at his old job, he had to work every single holiday).  The day was filled with so much amazing food and it just made me realize how thankful I am to have such a great family.

Outfit Details:
Dress: Thrifted, Old Navy
Necklace: Gift from Patrick
Belt: Taken from thrifted dress
Tights: Hue
Boots: Sam Edelman, gift from stepmom!

I just have to include our gifts to each other, too.  We made a rule that our gifts had to be homemade, but we could include a small gift as well.

Photobucket

I made him a painting! I haven't done one since like 3rd grade and Patrick is always telling me I should try out my art skills.  I was surprised at myself, actually! Don't even ask about the random heart at the bottom.. I just don't know what purpose it serves.. but it made for good laughs! I also told him I owe him 5 iTunes albums of his choice.. we have the same exact music taste but the past couple times he's been buying all the music so it's time to make it even!

Photobucket

Patrick MADE me a jewelry box! Yes.. made.. from scratch! It has drawers and everything.  He started out with just a big block of wood.. he is so crafty!  Inside was the sweetest note I've ever read and I honestly didn't even read it all at first because I had so many tears! The note was in the first drawer, and in the second drawer was the necklace mentioned earlier.  He is the best boyfriend I could ever ask for!

How was your Christmas?! Any special gifts? I can't wait to catch up on my blog reading and see everyone's Christmas posts!

Isn't it romantic

 December 24, 2009

Can you believe I'm posting on the day the pictures were taken?!  I'm actually supposed to be finishing my boyfriends Christmas presents, but I wanted to do a quick post!

Photobucket

I got this skirt at Goodwill last week! I'm in love with it.  It has a strip of velvet on the bottom, it's a shame you can't really tell in the pictures.  The only problem is that it is too big and falls to the bottom of my hips.. not a good look.  So I did what I always do when clothes I'm in love with are too big.. belt it up!

This morning we went off to take pictures, Starbucks for a hot cup of tea, and finally to Keagans for a good old Irish lunch feast!  Later on Patrick is picking me up to go to his house for a family dinner and then we are going to my stepmom's family's house.

Photobucket

I'm so excited for tomorrow! I'm just so excited to give Patrick his gift.  We decided on homemade gifts this year... and I've gotta say, I'm surprising myself with this one but it isn't finished yet so we will see!

Photobucket

I also got Tieka's package from her giveaway in the mail yesterday and I opened EVERYTHING before I took pictures because I was just way too excited.. oops.. but I will be including pictures in my next post. Since she already posted pictures of the basket all pretty and together, I'm going to include pictures of how I'm using everything in my next post! Thanks again, Tieka! I LOVE everything!

Photobucket

I hope that everyone is safe and spending time with loved ones!  Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!  I will be taking photos of my outfit tomorrow (because I NEVER plan outfits but I've had this one in my head for a while) but might not get around to posting it until Sunday or Monday.

What's inspiring me right now...

Alright, today I'm dressed quite boringly and I doubt anyone would want to see my outfit.  I'm just wearing jeans, a tank top, and a blazer.. I have to work most of the day and I'm just in kind of a blah mood.  I would post a picture of my work outfit... but the typical black, white, and green ensemble for Starbucks employees REALLY isn't that exciting. I had to run to Rite Aid this morning and decided to stop by two thrift stores after, and boy am I glad I did! It was my lucky day because I managed to snag a Coach bag! It's from one of the original collections from the '70s and it's called the Station Bag.  I can't express my joy for this find! I almost bought a Coach bag exactly like this from Etsy (I forgot how much it was there) but I got it for only $14!  I also scored two skirts that will be perfect for winter.  I've been consciously staying away from patterns in skirts and dresses as much as possible.  I feel like I'm drawn to prints but they aren't very practical when it comes to remixing outfits.

I want to introduce you guys to Copenhagen Street Style, if you haven't yet discovered it.  I'm feeling so inspired right now and I wish I didn't have to work all night so I could play dress up! But, alas, I've got to make money to support my desire for vintage Coach bags and winter skirts :)  But enjoy this inspiration and visit Copenhagen Street Style here!  By the way, I discovered this site from Lievermarlene Vintage!  I absolutely adore her blog... so incredibly inspirational.. I was swooning over all of the locations in her pictures last night!

PS- I need some major help.  I can't seem to find a good way to make my photos into collages.  I managed to do this with just basic Blogspot layout, but instead of having to do it like this or have all of my photos lined up vertically, I'd like to do two pictures next to each other or just a simple collage.  Suggestions?

December 21, 2009

My favorite thing about winter break is that all of my friends come home!  I stayed in my hometown, Virginia Beach, to go to community college since I have a total of 6 years of school and I'm in charge of all of the finances!  But next year I'm going to Old Dominion University in Norfolk, just 20 minutes away.  Anyways, all of my close friends went away to schools and I miss Danielle, who has been one of my best friends since 7th grade! the most.  She's just a hour away at William and Mary, but our schedules get so busy and I always work weekends so I never see her.. sad face.  But she's home and offered to take my pictures for today! (Well, technically yesterday, since I'm usually a day behind.)

Scarf: Gap
Blouse: Thrifted
Shorts: TJ Maxx

We also did our annual Christmas cookies!  I love doing them with her because we do everything from scratch.. including the icing!

Patrick and I made some last night, too!

Patrick made this cookie and I thought it was just the sweetest thing!  PBJ= Patrick and Brittany Jerome.  Here's where the story gets unbelievably mushy.. we were really good friends for about 6 months or so before we started dating.  I would host "The Office" night at my house every Thursday and have a bunch of friends over to watch it.  Eventually, it dwindled down to just Patrick and I (we were dating then)  and in one of the episodes it made mention of PBJ for the initials and Pam Beasley and Jim.. so we've been PBJ ever since!

Awwww.

Anyways, I'd like to take a second to give a big, huuuuge "THANK YOU!" to everyone who reads my blog.  I'm amazed by the support I've gotten so far and the positive feedback just encourages me even more...!!! I'm seriously so shocked when I check my blog and see that I actually have COMMENTS and people actually read this!

I just also HAD to include this video of the Avett Brothers.  I'm sure some of you have heard of them.. maybe not.. people tend to lean towards the "never heard of 'em" side when it comes to the music I listen to... anywho, I felt like the Avett Brothers should have been playing while we were taking this photos.  We saw them in Baltimore in October, and let me tell you.. one of the best concerts I have EVER been to..

WARNING: This video is very folky.
